How it works

    A deterministic engine reads the document and extracts the facts — structure, skills, dates, evidence. No language model is involved, so the same document always produces the same result.

Almost every tool that reports "years of experience" gets it wrong in the same way: it subtracts your first job's start year from today. Someone who worked 2016–2017, took two years out, and resumed in 2019 does not have ten years of experience, and claiming they do fails the first reference check.

This analyzer parses every date range on the page, merges any that overlap so concurrent roles are counted once, and sums only the months actually covered. Gaps fall through the cracks deliberately. The result is the number you can defend in an interview.

Frequently asked questions

How are years of experience calculated?
Every employment date range is parsed to the month. Overlapping ranges are merged so two concurrent roles are not double-counted. The covered months are summed and converted to years. Gaps between roles are excluded, because you were not employed during them.
Why is my total lower than I expected?
Three usual causes: a role has no date range at all and is therefore invisible; a range uses a format the parser could not read; or you were counting the span from your first job to today rather than the months actually worked. The per-range list shows which of the three it is.
Are internships and education counted?
Education date ranges are excluded — a degree period is identified by the degree terms around it and left out of employment. Internships listed as roles with date ranges are counted, since they are employment.
What if a role is still ongoing?
"Present", "Current", "Ongoing" and "Till date" are all recognised as open-ended and measured up to the current month.
