Resume vs Job Description Match

Requirement by requirement, with the evidence — or the gap — for each.

  • Deterministic — the same document always gives the same result
  • Every finding quotes the line of your resume that triggered it
  • Parsed in memory and discarded. Never stored, never trained on

Deterministic analysis. Nothing is uploaded to a model, and your document is not stored.

What this tool gives you

  • A 0–100 match score, with required requirements weighted at 70%
  • Every requirement graded: demonstrated, listed, related, or missing
  • Experience and education verdicts against the posting's stated minimums
  • Prioritised, specific recommendations naming real requirements

How it works

  1. Add your resume and the job description

Upload a PDF or DOCX resume, or paste the text. Then paste the job description you want to be measured against. Nothing is stored — the analysis happens on the document you submit and the file is discarded.

  2. The engine analyses it

A deterministic engine reads the document and extracts the facts — structure, skills, dates, evidence. No language model is involved, so the same document always produces the same result.

  3. Read the evidence behind every result

You get the findings with the reasoning attached: what was found, where it was found in the document, and what to change. No score arrives without an explanation.

This is the tool that answers the question people actually have: should I apply, and what should I change first? It grades every checkable requirement in the posting against your resume on a four-level scale — demonstrated in described work, listed only, evidenced by an adjacent skill, or absent — and weights required requirements at 70% against preferred at 30%.

The four levels exist because the two-level version lies. Marking a skill "matched" when it appears once in a list overstates your position; marking it "missing" when you have closely adjacent experience understates it. Partial credit is shown as partial credit, and where an adjacent skill earned it, the tool names which one.

The recommendations are ordered by impact and always name real requirements from the posting. You will not be told to "tailor your resume".

Frequently asked questions

What match score is good enough to apply?
Look at the required requirements rather than the headline number. Meeting all or nearly all of them is a competitive application even when the overall score is dragged down by preferred items you lack — which is exactly the common case, since postings list aspirational extras.
What do the four grades mean?
Demonstrated — the skill appears alongside work you described doing. Listed — it appears, but only in a list. Related — it is not named, but a genuinely adjacent skill is present, and the tool names which. Missing — no evidence at all. They score 100, 65, 35 and 0.
Is this the same scoring recruiters use in HireSagar?
It is the same engine and the same four-level evidence ladder, so what you see here is what a recruiter using HireSagar sees for the same pair of documents. The paid platform adds pipeline context, timeline and risk analysis, and generated interview questions on top.
Should I just add every missing keyword?
Only the ones that are true. Adding a skill you cannot discuss moves you from a rejection you never see to a failed interview you do. Where you have genuinely done the work under a different name, adopting the posting's wording is the right move and usually the biggest single gain available.
